BLAENAU 600
Distance: 618.8 km / Elevation Gain: 11,316 m
A route covering a full range of Welsh uplands, with connecting lowland valleys. Remote in places and hilly throughout, riders will cross several mountain ranges and experience a wide range of surfaces from tarmac to rough rocky sections and everything in between.ย
A choice of routes makes the Blaenau accessible to a wide range of riders โ the longest route is a proper challenge for even the most experienced of ultra riders; while the shorter North route is not in any way โeasyโ, it is less remote and time pressured, making it a good option for riders who are newer to the discipline.

The longest standing FKT in the books, this is a challenging route with a huge amount of climbing.

GREEN DIVIDE
Distance: 305.1 km / Elevation Gain: 1,078 m
At 300km, the Green Divide is the longest green off-road bikepacking route in the Netherlands, connecting Arnhem to Zwolle via an unpaved nature traverse. The route consists of two parts; the Hill Ridge Divide and the Veluwe Divide. This is an unpaved forest route. In summer parts can be dry and loose, while in autumn and winter they can be muddy. Keep this in mind and run at least 40mm wide tires with a gravel profile, wider is always better.
NB. Parts of Kroondomein het Loo will be closed to the public from 15 September to 24 December, so you cannot cycle the entire Green Divide route. During this period it is best to cycle the alternative Brown Divide.
HIGHLAND TRAIL 550
Distance: 889.9 km / Elevation Gain: 13,938 m
The Highland Trail is a self-supported mountain bike route 550 miles in length with over 16000m of climbing. It was inspired by events in the US like the Tour Divide and particularly the Colorado Trail Race (CTR).
Initially put together as a simple training ride in preparation for the CTR, it became apparent that the great trails, beautiful scenery, remote wilderness, and fickle Scottish weather, offered a world class route for a self-supported challenge right here in UK.
The majority of the route is on excellent trails and quiet roads, but includes some boggy and very technical sections.
Everyone should expect some extended periods of hike-a-bike, even the best climbers and technical descenders will find plenty of terrain beyond their ability.

Traversing central Scotland from Helensburgh in the west to Dunbar in the east the route, which commemorates the naturalist John Muir, is well-signposted and consists of a mix of minor roads, traffic-free paths, and cycleways, with some sections of busier roads. KEMBLE ROUNDย
Distance: 159.4 km / Elevation Gain: 2,350 m
The Kemble Round is a challenging 100 mile (160Km) self-guided gravel cycling route in the Cotswolds. With a 50/50 on/off-road mix, it's intended as a tough but rewarding single day challenge (or maybe a two-day bikepacking tour) for experienced cyclists, along the lines of the South Downs Way or the Trans-Cambrian Way.
The route crosses endlessly varied, often beautiful, and occasionally remote countryside, and includes towards 10,000ft (3,000m) of climbing. It was devised as an adventurous alternative to expensive mass-participation sportives.
Note: If you're planning to tackle the Kemble Round during 2026 be aware there is some potential for disruption and diversions due to the construction of the new A417 'Missing Link' road. More information on the Kemble Round Route Info page.

KING ALFRED'S WAY
Distance: 351.4 km / Elevation Gain: 3,419 m
A 350km circular off-road adventure route through 10,000 years of history, connecting some of England's most iconic sites. Using parts of the Ridgeway and South Downs Way, think white horses on chalk hillsides and wide-open views across rolling waves of countryside.
The name of the trail is inspired by Alfred the Great, who ruled the Anglo-Saxon kingdom of Wessex.
The trail starts and ends at King Alfred's statue in Winchester, where he is buried.ย But an FKT attempt can start anywhere on the route, progress in either direction, finishing at the start point.
One of the premier UK FKT routes, and hotly contested.

LAKELAND 200
Distance: 206 km / Elevation Gain: 6,082 m
The Lakeland 200 was devised by Alan Goldsmith and originally intended to be ridden as an ITT.
The route offers the very best of mountain bike riding in the Lake District National Park, with its rugged and natural trails carved by the forces of nature.
With classic passes such as High Street, Walna Scar Road and Black Sail Pass, the terrain is truly varied. Expect everything from technical rock gardens and boggy yomps across open fells to quaint bridleways through ancient woodland, gravelled forest roads and country lanes. With a few steep hike-a-bike climbs thrown in for good measure.
Arguably the most challenging English FKT route mile-for-mile and undoubtedly one of the most popular.

LAKELAND 300
Distance: 300.4 km / Elevation Gain: 7,029 m
A step further than the Lakeland 200, this is a route designed by local mountain biker and bikepacker Chris Hope, starting from his hometown of Cockermouth.
As with all other circular FKT routes it can be tackled in either direction, although clockwise is the most popular choice, and can start/finish at any point on the route.

MINT GRAVEL
Distance: 161.2 km / Elevation Gain: 3,002m
A South Lakeland route starting from Kendal. In the words of the route pioneers, 'Gravel' is a bit tricker to define but in this case we're talking 'Northern Gravel' rather than your American/London variety and take it to include everything from country lanes through to rocky off-road tracks, the odd boggy fell-side bridleway, and perhaps even a little hike-a-bike. This is a tough 100 mile route, approximately 50% is off-road with the majority of the rest on smaller roads.ย

Mirada Circular โ Seis Caminos
Seis Caminos is a circular route of 225km which runs through the mountains which form the valley defining The Bierzo, an ancient region in Northwest Spain. This route unites segments of the various Caminos de Santiago pilgrimage routes which pass through this territory including the Camino de Santiago Frances, The Forgotten Route (Camino Olvidado), The old Camino de Santiago (Camino Viejo), the Winter Route (Camino de Invierno), the Camino de Manzanal, and many smaller trekking and cycling routes such as the route of the water mills and the route of cherries and chestnuts.
The route passes through countless small pueblos, many lost to time, but most still continuing their idyllic rural way of life. There is a UNESCO world heritage site (Las Medullas, an ancient Roman gold mine) as well as countless monasteries, ermitas, and churches of cultural interest. The Bierzo is also a fertile and unique agricultural region and the route passes by vineyards, cherry, pear, apple and fig orchards, and pasture lands used by free ranging cattle, sheep and goats.
The Bierzo has a unique climate, with a confluence of Mediterranean, Atlantic, and Rainy Coastal climate types and all the flora and fauna that these diverse climates support.

This route traverses the UK's south-western peninsular, climbing from the English Channel over the harsh, exposed heathland of Dartmoor, and across the wooded, twisting trails of Exmoor. Some 130 miles later, the route culminates with a descent to the Bristol Channel.ย

TRAWS ERYRI
Distance: 195.3 km / Elevation Gain: 3,684 m
Traws Eryri, which is Welsh for "Trans-Snowdonia", weaves 140 miles (200 km) through one of the UK's most dramatic mountain landscapes. Traversing Snowdonia from Machynlleth to Conwy, the route links wild forests, incredible mountain scenery and fascinating history using ancient tracks, Roman roads and deserted lanes. Even though there are some short sections of linking footpaths along the route, riders have been granted permission to use these from the relevant landowners.ย

WAY OF THE ROSES
Distance: 274.3 km / Elevation Gain: 2,340 m
The National Cycle Network has several Northern coast-to-coast routes, but this is perhaps the most accessible. For most people, it's closer to home than the C2C or Hadrian's Cycleway, so there's less hassle with booking long train journeys. Starting on the promenade in Morecambe (Irish Sea) and ending on the coast at Bridlington (North Sea) this scenic route features a mix of traffic-free paths, quiet country lanes, and challenging terrain through the Yorkshire Dales and Yorkshire Wolds.ย
